Online board games on a video call is a fun option.
On a small side project, I load the initial results with the template and then do filtering and additional searching with js. This allows me to be SEO friendly, while still having nice filtering functionality.

Ask HN: Scalable Infrastructure for a new project?

I am contemplating where to deploy a Django web app. Main considerations are handling traffic spikes and ease of maintenance. I narrowed it down to the following options and would appreciate any advice or experience with them: 1. AWS Auto Scale Group + Elastic Load Balancer 2. Elastic Beanstalk 3. AWS Lambda Serverless with Zappa

Re:Ask HN: Who is looking for a co-founder? on Sunday January 28, 2018 @02:33PM (#16252979)
I am a full stack developer and am looking for a project that can generate revenue. I would be interested in learning about the business and potentially helping you if there is a fit. You can find contact details in my profile and send some more information across.
I have some questions regarding the E-2 Visa.

An early stage startup could run extremely lean in the early days so how do you estimate a substantial investment amount?

What are some common pitfalls in the application process?

Re:Ask HN: What is the norm for email validation? on Wednesday June 14, 2017 @11:23AM (#14553397)
I use JS validation library + Mailcheck.js on the front end. The regex checks for format and mailcheck validates second and top level domains. Coupled with a verification mail this is good enough for me.
This is really cool

Did you take the Front-end or the Full-stack course?
Re:Ask HN: Courses on non-tech startup/bootstrap aspects? on Wednesday January 11, 2017 @04:17PM (#13377550)
There are a lot less business-focussed resources for sure. You can check this free business course on Udemy that seems decent (I have not taken it myself) https://www.udemy.com/basics-of-starting-an-online-business/

There are a lot of resources for marketing, but you have to look for the ones that are relative to what you want to achieve.

Re:Ask HN: Do you carry a backpack? Which one? on Wednesday January 11, 2017 @03:46PM (#13377350)
I have the Lenovo Y Gaming Armored Backpack B8270. Why? It fits any laptop and has a properly padded separation just for my laptop. Water resistant, which is a big plus in London. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/GX40L16533/460/D97E...
Start making money before worrying about taxes.

If you are planning to bootstrap the company then incorporate wherever you want. On the other hand, investors would be a lot more comfortable investing in a US company and clients prefer to deal with other US companies.
