Re:Ask HN: What are you working on (elevator pitch)? on Tuesday August 07, 2012 @12:20AM (#4348701)
Not sure how practical it's going to be? The first major milestone will be a hardware accelerated JVM. 2 years out maybe? I have a template system that directly manipulates the HTML in the outgoing buffer. It displays the server time and the amount of times the server time has been sent out.

100G FPGA based router/switch/web server. Directly coupled storage and memory. High end server and networking hardware looks like 14.4k modems when compared. JVM that can perform GC concurrently and all sorts of neat stuff.
Re:Ask HN: US bank that offers Two-Factor Authentication? on Monday August 06, 2012 @05:02PM (#4347264)
Two-factor authentication is such a pain, It makes it much harder to steal your banking credentials when you sign on using public wifi.

They just need to bring back all the BBS based games.
Re: SSL is not about encryption on Sunday August 05, 2012 @02:01AM (#4340757)
MITM attack. If your on the same networking and the router isn't configured to block ARPing. You can proxy the traffic that filters out the redirect. Your proxy keeps the https connection open and passes back unsecured content. Public wifi can be a bad idea sometimes...
Re: SSL is not about encryption on Sunday August 05, 2012 @01:30AM (#4340694)
It's always good practice to type in the https. It's not to difficult to stop the redirect from http => https.
Re:Ask HN: How should I evaluate a startup as I job hunt? on Sunday August 05, 2012 @01:26AM (#4340685)
Perhaps what not to use as an evaluation?
Re:What I Hate About Git on Sunday August 05, 2012 @01:16AM (#4340668)
Back to SVN via email, and flash drives! I'm so glad my last day is Monday.
Nice wording, "You people are truly clueless?".

Well one thing is clear, whatever kind of opposite world you live in large corporations don't have any influence over government policy.

There is no one on that client list who deals with anything policy related at all! The interesting things about company emails is that they tend to not communicate to the outside world.

Yes "Policy Makers" only get intelligence from the CIA. Since out of the huge intelligence budget the only agency we have that deals with matters outside of the US is the CIA.

Think tanks and other non governmental institutions are for people other than "Policy Makers"

I hope I'm keeping up the theme of saying completely backwards stuff!

Or that you just....clueless.

I would have to follow the twisted logic, Do you really expect these people to have not committed any crimes over the entire course of the emails?

I would have more of a issue if this was personal correspondence but this is dealing with large US institutions and people that deal with policy.
