That mouse looks terrifying, but actually only has 6 buttons, compared to the (much more attractive) mouse the author references, which as 13. So not sure it's relevant, although it is an interesting curiosity.
Re:Could Google Glass be banned in the casinos? on Sunday October 07, 2012 @03:49PM (#4624221)
Given that cell phones are banned in casinos (for table games, etc) I think it's self-evident that Google Glass will also be banned.

What exactly is being shown in the animation/slideshow? You said its iterating and maximizing the MLE, but doesn't that just mean you're maximizing a single number? How can that iteration generate an entire heatmap?

I think an "education" section is a boilerplate resume item. If it wasn't there, I'd at least ask for details.

Citing Compete is dangerous territory indeed.
Re:10Gen CEO Dwight Merriman Still Writes His Own Code on Monday October 10, 2011 @09:44PM (#3096701)
Chris Wanstrath, CEO of GitHub, still writes meaningful amounts of code as well.
Re:The Steve Jobs I Knew on Wednesday October 05, 2011 @11:19PM (#3078879)
My favorite part:

"He looked at me like I was crazy, said there’d be many, many stores, and that the company had spent a year tweaking the layout of the stores, using a mockup at a secret location. I teased him by asking if he, personally, despite his hard duties as CEO, had approved tiny details like the translucency of the glass and the color of the wood.

He said he had, of course."

I would add Sailthru for email: https://www.sailthru.com/
Re:25% of Yale goes to Consulting, Finance on Monday October 03, 2011 @01:13AM (#3065147)
In this context, I think "consulting" means Management Consulting, i.e. working for McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc. Corporate recruiting at top schools is heavily dominated by finance and management consulting firms.

Great site. A trivial gripe: you should get rid of the text shadow on the "Select a Language" title. Grey CSS text shadows on grey backgrounds tend to look blurry, and this is no exception. Or, better yet, make it a white 1px shadow with no blur: http://goo.gl/BU0Hu
Re:Stripe: instant payment processing for developers on Thursday September 29, 2011 @05:35PM (#3054424)
I operate in what the credit card processors consider to be a "high risk industry". It's nearly impossible for myself or my competitors to get a merchant account without a reserve. In other words, for every $1 we charge, the merchant bank holds X% in reserve (until we hit a certain threshold). Thus, if we tried to defraud customers by selling bad products and then "disappearing," the merchant bank could use the reserve to refund customers.

So, with that as a preface, how will Stripe deal with chargebacks? It seems like it would be very easy to set up a scam, e.g. a merchant sells phony inventory and then "disappears" when customers complain.

I wouldn't focus so exclusively on someone who specializes in bi-directional video. Given the somewhat desperate nature of your situation, that seems too narrow. Just try to find a kick-ass hacker and assume that he can quickly learn the finer points of your niche.
Why don't you just learn to code?
