Re:Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after navier-stokes on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @09:24AM (#49726690)
The changes that AI technology bring are unprecedented, it’s hard to predict what the impact of widespread adoption will look like. Probably collapse of price as a decentralized mechanism of ressource allocation, and a deep inevitable paradigm shift in economics and politics. It’s as if the actual value of those companies can’t be reliably pinned on any currency amount!
Re:Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after navier-stokes on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @09:18AM (#49726585)
I would add to the other comments that are replying below the following thought : replacing workers with AI means less income/spending, which drives the value of those companies down at the same time.

They have done that in the past. I clearly remember the times when they dropped releases as a simple tweet and it made the front page of HN - just like the recent Chinese models releases.
Re:Mistral raises €3B on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @05:11AM (#49607689)
This is a spectacularly prejudiced and insulting comment.

It’s a different culture with different rules, if it was that easy it would have been done already. See my other comment about lack of budget at a federal level.
Re:Mistral raises €3B on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @05:08AM (#49607669)
Europe has no budget of their own like the USA and China do, because there is no debt nor taxation at the European level. That’s the reason for the complication you are noticing.
Re:Mistral raises €3B on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @05:06AM (#49607659)
European money invested in a European company ought to be a good thing, don’t you think?

It’s very possible that the people saying AGI is a winner takes all are indeed referring to warfare.
in terms of performance the formula seems to be : dense parameters = sqrt(total*active)
Layman here, from what I understand this is a major news : it means China is allowing a foreign corporation (european commercial bank) to offer Yuan currency services to clients. Given how tight of a currency control policy the CCP has, it’s quite surprising that they would let a foreign based company into their currency dealings.
That’s what I can’t put my finger on, see my other comment : why would Anthropic tell the public.
Watermarking is probably done by other vendors covertly as well. See my other comment.
Most vendors probably do it covertly, as watermarking is a tried and true method to defend intellectual property. I’m more interested in the motivations behind Anthropic admitting it publicly.

You might want to look into the difference between : positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, and type 1/2 punishments.

Most bank transfers cannot be reversed without agreement between parties. You're using a b2c mindset for a b2b problem. Bitcoin is a b2b tool.

I’m not a fan of using a brand name, but I chuckled!
Re:Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork on Monday August 03, 2026 @01:07AM (#49151425)
Points are starting to be made in favor of value, to the contrary of what you are affirming. Specifically because the new open weights models lower the TCO of hardware in an environment where new open weights were previously thought to be a thing of the past.

If you can do inference on the CPU, drop the GPU : it should be faster.
It provides information that's not accurate.
The authorities heavily regulate penny stocks since Boiler rooms.
There is no value generation in trading stocks either beyond IPO, as stocks are then simply second-hand markets and can be completely irrational. The main value is just like the lottery : entertainment, excitment.
The only winners are the market makers and the ones initiating insider trading. You'll always be on the wrong is of the liquidity when trying to ride alongside scammers.
This is like saying that "Supersize me" is free publicity for MacDonalds.
The betting contract depended on the Oracle's data for resolution. The Oracle's data was altered. The betting contract wasn't altered, however the social contract was.

It's very usable. It's just not the PoS some expected.

Don't forget about the pineapple fund : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pineapple_Fund

Also wall street never considered it seriously until a few years ago.
