Whoa, lots of tough guys here! I didn't know Java programming turns regular Joes into superwarriors.
Why not use the brine from desalination plants in Europe to increase salinity in the Iceland region as a way to combat AMOC collapse?

Not only does the article mention that

"They are also 11.2% more than in the first quarter of 2020 when 4,683 corporate insolvencies were filed before the COVID-19 pandemic had its full impact. The coronavirus pandemic period itself saw special, temporary regulations introduced and low insolvency rates."

Your own statista link shows that the number of bankruptcies was steadily decreasing between 2010-2019, now it's going up again.

Your solution is even worse! Not only it means opening stores everywhere, but you haven't even considered the fact that not everyone wants to go shopping daily. Buying in bulk is a thing, bc of time and money saved. Besides, I was thinking of something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Foldable-Lightweight-Shopping-Capacit... which is already popular with the old ppl in many countries in Europe.
They are holding the Israeli gov't responsibile for the violence that is to come in Gaza in the next days (already started). Your argument that surrender is what makes societies function is absolutely wrong, otherwise it would be applicable in places like Ukraine.
A lot of people are also ignorant of the chilling effect: https://www.thefire.org/research-learn/chilling-effect-overv...

You'd keep the cart until next time you need it.

I was just thinking - why don't they make electrified coin-operated shopping carts that you can take home and return when you're done with them? That would greatly extend the carrying capacity of a single person and maybe make car trips redundant.
Is anyone seriously threatening the US? I'd say lives are lost when soldiers are sent abroad, where they (maybe) shouldn't be. Consider this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_dilemma
That would also enable the EU to stop being in tow of the US in every effing disaster like Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and so on.

So, the answer is keep the war going?
Re:How to Drill Your Own Water Well on Friday August 25, 2023 @04:28PM (#37266628)
A sewage system doesn't work well without periodic flushes. Having too few houses connected to it means it is at risk of drying and clogging. Most probably when it was designed they took into account the number of houses is was supposed to collect waste water from. Anything less then that number would be risky for the whole system.
It's pretty outdated, at least in regard to Eastern & Southern Europe.

Ummm, Call of Duty is $31 billion. I'm sure NBA, F1, PGA are all probably multi-billion as well.
I imagine someone in India or China is saying that right now, comparing themselves with Europeans or Americans. BTW I'm with you, imposing drastic changes in lifestyle upon a single country is just not going to work at all.
Same here, although I eat an onion before bed. I highly suspect it has to do with these:

What is ridiculous is that China is vigurously criticised in every news outlet in the West on every occasion, while the French gov't gets away with almost everything. Can you explain that?
You are right, what's a little surveillance between friends. It's not like they're acting like the Chinese at all.
Meanwhile China is bad.
Cool, then I guess they can start their own Reddit soon. With hookers and blackjack.
It most definitely isn't the mods. If I stood everyday at the Louvre and gave free tours to guests could I claim the Mona Lisa after a couple years? I think not.
Why should he? Just because some randoms on the net think they own the site after hanging there for some time?
Especially less "money", less "travel", less "housing space".
Re:EU achieved independence from Russian fossil fuels on Tuesday May 30, 2023 @02:16PM (#36128413)
Some would disagree with this take:

https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/24/ukraine-the-wests-oil-war-ag...

Analysis published Wednesday by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, an independent Finnish think tank, found that Russia’s revenues from oil exports have recovered from levels reached in January and February.

The findings show that Moscow has been able to successfully claw back earnings from fossil fuel exports in recent weeks despite the imposition of import bans from the European Union and a broader G7 oil price cap late last year.

Energy analysts at CREA suggested the failure from the so-called Price Cap Coalition to revise price levels and enforce the policy had resulted in the measures “losing traction, integrity and credibility.”

Well, it happened to me just the other day - said it cannot read the card or something like that (even though I had used it less than 15 minutes earlier in another shop). There was already a queue behind me so I forked $40 for gas and went on my way.
