I think at least in PhD positions and university research labs the environment is not as toxic and nowadays at least PhD students can experience something similar to the vibes of a team working together on some cool project.

Potential for failure is high, of course, an experiment might not have the desired outcome and a death of a few hundred mice would not lead to a cure of some disease, sure. But without trying for millions of times, scientists won’t find the one drug that works. If it saves at least person, isn’t the risk and cost of not trying to find the cure by all mean possible even higher?

Honestly I don’t get it. Why use a model of organs when you can use real organs in mice? If society had to choose: cure one extra disease variant and sacrifice a million mice in the process, or don’t. Shouldn’t the answer be obviously to use mice to save people lives? Honestly I don’t get it. How many lab rats is one person worth? Judging by some comments here, the answer would be they won’t trade mice lives for people lives?

This is the first time I see webmention used anywhere. Idea seems to be good, but it is not used for some reason https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webmention
Oh! Then it makes sense! Missed that
Side by side images of exactly the same places one year apart would have been much better than the images in the article - combining left and right part from 2 years. Maybe it's just me, but the satellite images mostly were hard to read
It is bad at reverse direction though (LinkedIn -> English). If I give it LinkedIn post in corporate language, it doesn’t remove all the nonsense words. Could have been nice if it worked both ways
What I see in a German university - no change for undergraduate CS degree, which still has 50% maths annd theoretical CS and is not affected by LLMs. But in a Master’s degree they offer really lots of ML courses - from basics to CV to hardware aware. Exams in those are written on paper without any aids.

It is a bellwether trial, a test of sorts combining hundreds of similar cases. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellwether_trial
Will it be possible to plot large graphs/ networks with thousands of nodes?

Here is the AI overview I got just now:

> Dave Barry, the humorist, experienced a brief "death" in an AI overview, which was later corrected. According to Dave Barry's Substack, the AI initially reported him as deceased, then alive, then dead again, and finally alive once more. This incident highlights the unreliability of AI for factual information.

How much approximately does it cost to rent these amounts of gpu + server?
Serious question - who and why would be using this tool? What is the use case? In other comments I have only seen exporting ChatGPT conversations to md
