I used facebook for promoting local events but in the last ~5 years it was less and less effective for that.
Then I used it only for meme groups and getting angry at strangers.
Hard quit last summer and never looked back.

I never really used it much, but sometimes there are really interesting threads or content on local events.
There also seems to be a massive amount of vile and rude commenters.

The documentary in part inspired my comment, it was (as most of his stuff) very worthwhile to watch!

I guess everyone experiences it differently, but in my "bubble" most people are severely disillusioned with any utopian ideologies or concepts.
A dystopian future of some cyberpunk flavour seems inevitable.
Of course this is a very biased view and probably not reflective of reality at all.

Wow the stories on the Free Fall Research Page are pretty crazy.
How can people survive that stuff, with sheer luck?

We can surely learn a lot by looking at the past, but it would be foolish to apply it 1:1 to the present/past.
I feel like all the big utopian ideologies that dominated the minds of people around WWI have more or less disappeared, replaced by money.

I hate buying stuff thru amazon.
It's really hard to find what you are looking for and I can't trust it really.
Only upside they have is that their delivery is fast and service is ok (compared to normal retail offering online store)
Can't wait to be able to go somewhere, look at the options and talk to a human.
Online shopping is shit

Crazy how many common terms like comic con or appstore are trademarked.
Also funny how Heroin is a brandname.

DeepL is really impressive.
I translated a very convoluted very technical text from German to English and the result was ok.
I still have to edit it a bit to make it sound less German, but overall it's readable and understandable.
It would have taken me quite a few hours to translate it, now I just have to edit it a bit.

This is probably different for different cities & cultures but where I live there are a lot of small book shops. Both for second hand and newly printed.
People also tend to leave a lot of books on the street to take.
I recently found Dark City, Silence of the Lambs and The Dean(?) in his domain on the street. All in good condition and I enjoyed eating them.
I really don't understand why everything needs to be tracked.
Reading for me is a journey for its sake, the destination is not interesting.
