That is very interesting. Would you mind testing the same prompt with Claude Sonnet 3.5 and Opus? If not available to you, would you be willing to share the prompt/question? Thank you.

Here's the reasoning why it turned out to be flawed and had to be scrapped, https://www.reddit.com/r/java/comments/1bxck72/comment/kz48f...

Depending on the use case either Avalonia or Electron.

Found it from https://github.com/Vahe1994/SpQR Was somehow expecting it to be at https://github.com/TimDettmers/bitsandbytes. My bad.

Has anyone seen an implementation of 'SpQR: A Sparse-Quantized Representation,' published in June 2023 by Tim Dettmers et al.? https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.03078
Regarding the use of the Apple Neural Engine (ANE) for ML tasks: yes, it is closed source for direct access. However, reports indicate that it supports only forward propagation (without backward propagation) and offers a relatively limited set of supported precisions [1]. Should the API ever be opened, the ANE's primary use case would likely shift towards inference rather than training.

George Hotz made pretty good progress with the ANE access ca 3 years ago at one of his videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAyw7OAcXDE

Re:I Taught ChatGPT to Invent a Language on Tuesday December 06, 2022 @02:32PM (#33885749)
Not sure how many have discovered but ChatGPT works well with many languages, for example asking a question in estonian gives an adequate answer in estonian, just the grammar is a tiny bit more off.
Re:Ask HN: Why is Google Premium not a thing? on Saturday May 14, 2022 @08:31AM (#31377331)
It's about target platform and time spent.

Youtube Premium is a perfect proposition for an easy ad free streaming to TV and to mobile. On Desktop browser adblock extension is efficient enough to cut out the ads.

Google search on the other hand is primarily for desktop and is not a streaming platform that consumes your attention minutes, hence Google Premium has little market with effective adblockers.

Re:Is Grammarly a keylogger? What can you do about it? on Saturday February 26, 2022 @04:16AM (#30476265)
I've been using ProWritingAid instead of Grammarly. They have discount deals every once in a while, incl the Lifetime sub.

Yes, if you don't type frantically at the same time on your mechanical keyboard and keep it at the right distance by stacking ~20 cm worth of books :)

In all seriousness I had it, the sound is good but had the physical usability issues. Had two, the USB port seemed to die after ~1-2 years of active use but that's the lifespan of these devices anyway.

Which EU countries have net salary in their employment contracts?

Employment contracts in Germany have gross salary (Bruttogehalt), all the social security, healthcare and taxes will be deducted from that amount.

Estonian employment contracts are a bit of a mix: the amount listed is gross (brutopalk), but the employer pays an additional 33+% on top of that gross salary for social security etc.

Ask HN: What is your production ML stack like? (2021)

I'm curious about your ML stack that is also used in production. What has failed, what has given joy?Have you managed to set up a reliable "MLOps" environment with a small(!) team? What are the ingredients? To what extent do you monitor your model inference performance? Is there an automated KPI tracking in place to make sure the new model architecture or a new set of weights perform as...

Can you name a few of Phoenix LiveView clones/similar approaches in other languages that are actively developed and worth looking into?
It's been used quite a lot, especially when dealing with legacy databases or having to support multiple databases with a single codebase.

There is one concern though. Both Google Cloud SQL and AWS RDS support only postgres_fdw, so one should manage their own storage, cluster and backups.

Yeah, the original Percona FDW hasn't been active for a while, only had a few commits after the first release and was missing quite a few features. Also doesn't support anything more recent than Postgres 11.

So the "adjust" CH FDW is the only usable choice today, thankfully quite actively maintained, primarily by the Adjust devs. I'd presume it's used for their production load.

There's now also a more recent CH FDW written in C by the team at adjust, https://github.com/adjust/clickhouse_fdw

I did like the Pentel Energel 0.7mm a lot, until tried to cut waste and use the refills. Turns out the rubber and plastic becomes loose over time, for about the time you want to use the 3rd refill.

So I dropped the idea, bought 2 Lamy Safari fountain pens to rotate when one goes empty, 1 pot of Diamine ink, 1 blunt-tipped syringe to refill and never had to think about this topic again :)

Make sure to understand the tax laws when it comes to the company tax residency in scenarios where you're physically not operating in Estonia nor employing people there, nor having majority of your clients there.

See my older comment [1] for some related topcis to research.

"The jTOP SLE78-powered ID cards were issued until the end of 2018. ID cards manufactured currently are powered by the chip platform supplied by IDEMIA (not covered in this work)."

If my memory serves me right, there was an easy way to check if your ID card was affected and it got replaced for free. The flaws described in paper are not known to exist in cards issued since the end of 2018, beginning of 2019.

Sounding "native" whether it's General American English or something else, is often a long path for a "foreigner".

The easiest start is to find a good accent reduction and pronunciation coach to have the initial assessment and understand your unique path.

Unfortunately one often finds that even the basic vowels you think you had nailed down might be "wrong" and have to be corrected in order to have an easily understood and enjoyable articulation.

For a long time I couldn't even hear a difference between IPA [i] and [ɪ]. It took a few weeks to properly recognize and replicate them in English.

Re:Fastmail – 20 Years Old on Thursday November 21, 2019 @05:21PM (#21600367)
Everyone who is happy with Fastmail, what is your "mobile strategy"? As a Fastmail customer, I find Web app wonderful but mobile app on Android severely lacking UX. Switched to Aquamail for client over IMAP but search is unusable/slow. Suggestions/success stories?
