Hey, this is an aside, but I noticed Corvi.careers isn’t currently online. Is this a permanent end of the service? I was finding it very useful.

What were your issues with Atlas Shrugged if you don't mind me asking?

Ask HN: A Video API which serves best quality dependant on connection?

Anyone know of a service that supplies this that isn't youtube? I know youtube has this functionality baked in, but in my experience, many people ask for custom video players, which are very possible with videoJS, but getting the right video dependant on connection is key.I know of no service that offers this atm. Specifically where it will serve up a specific url you can stream from...

... I don't share your sentiment at all. I find this relevant to the subject matter as he is, albeit indirectly, mentioning the performance of WASM. I would be surprised if you got the same performance using just plain old js on the hardware he is referencing.

Seriously broken in chrome.

Level 1 when my window was of a small size was impossible to complete.

Level 2 was a load of | mirrors, which meant I could only reflect the laser back on itself. No angles at all, and couldn't figure how to move the angle of the mirror.

Where did you see this / Have you got a link? I would be very interested in having a look as a current front end developer.

Ask HN: How do you do your browser testing?

Hello HN,It seems to be that one of the biggest pains of being a web developer is having to support legacy browsers. There's no denying that when you approach a high volume of customers, the marginal gains of a 1-3% increase in userbase can have a worthwhile effect in revenue. Also, with a lot of corporations requiring their employees to use IE8, they can represent an integral market if your...

Looks like this has been developed using the famo.us framework? I only say this because the parallax effect in the video is very reminiscent of a famo.us demo that was there yesterday but gone today.
Re:How Americans Die on Friday April 18, 2014 @08:40AM (#7608934)
Ah yes!! That is why, how silly of me. When put into the context of population increase, it is an incredible decrease in percentage of people who die from cancer.

1968 US Population: 200.71 million

2010 US Population: 309.35 million

Re:How Americans Die on Thursday April 17, 2014 @10:07AM (#7603597)
"This is particularly striking since cancer and heart disease - the two biggest killers for 45-54 yr olds - have become much less deadly over the years"

Except your graph shows that cancer death rates have increased by almost 20% from 1968-2010... Am I missing something here?

Thank you for posting this, it's a truly incredible read.

Hey, I was just wondering why you think learning JS is a bad move? As someone positioning themselves in this industry and not often hearing the bad sides of things, this would be great to hear.
