Awesome trip. Though even many Vietnamese don't want to travel HCM highway. You make it looks fantastic, now I need to go there too.

Re:Why is Japan using cassette tapes and faxes? on Tuesday November 03, 2015 @06:46AM (#10498899)
This is an example of many other Asia countries as well, even if the host country is "hi-tech" but the excuse is always be "our company isn't hi-tech". If you're not working in trending industries, eg. e-commerce, mobile, finance, banking, etc., you'd expect to be stuck with 10yo technology.

I was using a HP Gen 3 server to query DNS to get here to input this comment.

Re:Google Chrome may stop trusting Symantec certificates on Thursday October 29, 2015 @11:28AM (#10471774)
> Symantec first said it improperly issued 23 test certificates for domains owned by Google, browser maker Opera, and three other unidentified organizations without the domain owners' knowledge. A few weeks later, after Google disputed the low number, Symantec revised that figure upward, saying it found an additional 164 certificates for 76 domains and 2,458 certificates for domains that had never been registered.

Wow, Symantec really really fucked up. I wonder why they still can be trusted now.

In Vietnam, there are more and more buses have 3G router w/ AP to supply internet to their customers on road trips. Even the remote mountains now have stable 3G network.
Re:IBM https broken on Tuesday October 27, 2015 @05:43AM (#10457022)

    * Server certificate:
    *        subject: C=US; ST=New York; L=Armonk; O=International Business Machines; CN=redirect.www.ibm.com
    *        start date: 2015-09-30 00:00:00 GMT
    *        expire date: 2018-11-28 23:59:59 GMT
    * subjectAltName does not match ibm.com
Why redirect.www.ibm.com??? It doesn't make sense.

It's in the content, FreeBSD is developing nosh[0] for replacing init system.

I assume this part is just a joke.

If the FF didn't leave any trace and its proxies are fully transparent, do you think there's a way to detect that?
Re:The Caffeinated Lives of Bees on Tuesday October 20, 2015 @04:59AM (#10418139)
It's right here:

> But the caffeinated nectar was not nutritionally better than the plain nectar. In effect, Dr. Couvillon said, caffeine “causes the bee to overestimate the quality of the resource.”

Re:Netmap-fwd – An IPv4 router over netmap for FreeBSD on Monday October 19, 2015 @03:14AM (#10411559)
Does pfSense gain performance with this?
I run snort and from its alerts, the bots come from all around the world not all from CN. Though the CN sources are largest.
Re:What’s new in HAProxy 1.6 on Wednesday October 14, 2015 @09:19PM (#10390740)
It's too late to include new draft HTTP/2 in 1.6, so it'll be in 1.7
Re:What’s new in HAProxy 1.6 on Wednesday October 14, 2015 @09:55AM (#10386597)
Varnish is a good HTTP caching server, but with the rise of HTTPS and soon HTTP/2 I'm not sure it'll change since last time I heard its developers don't intend to support TLS at all.
It's typical suburban VNese street, look for Ha Noi or HCMC street to see insane traffic.

Perhaps a mini kindle, I estimate by the image that's about 2x4" max.
Re:TCP/UDP/ICMP traffic over UDP tunneling on Monday October 05, 2015 @05:49AM (#10330770)
I don't know. But where I'm working, I have to register my company's VPN traffic (DST IP addr) to pass their (state owned company) filter. Edit: Not in China.

It's used to bypass DPI where known VPN softwares are already filtered.

Like ... Narcos?

I don't know, isn't that based on true story?

Re:Windows 7 Update appears to be compromised? on Wednesday September 30, 2015 @10:59PM (#10308966)
They've gone through the process to put the "test" update to production servers, so I'm pretty sure this is intentioned. Though they might thought this is ok wo/ harms.
> have barely learned to "fake it" well enough to pass as a normie

So do I. I don't mind to practice social skills but I can smell the b.s in many people and don't like the fake socialization, so I prefer to be alone (now with my dog) with a small number of real friends who have the similar concept.

I didn't know the site is unreadable until uMatrix was disabled.
So, basically update means upgrade now?
Re:CloudFlare and Google Cloud Platform on Wednesday September 09, 2015 @09:54PM (#10195786)
I don't use CF-CDN but some websites that use CF gives me 50x error because it lost connection to origin servers, but when I switch to my VPN service those websites were up. Most of the time I get errors from CF's HKG point.
Laser pointer can disable a human piloted aircraft too.

Server: header makes people gone mad?
I gone through his previous blog post and found the changing Server: header field. Why have to waste time for rebuilding nginx from source for that? Why not just insert 'server_tokens off' in your nginx.conf?
