Wish my company allowed more of these LLMs through Github Copilot, stuck with OpenAi, Anthropic and Google LLMs where they burn my credit one week into the month
Re:Tesla is committing automotive suicide on Thursday January 29, 2026 @04:27PM (#46816860)
their top tier models barely sell any volume, at least for now with Tariffs in most of the west, Tesla can still move huge numbers of Y and 3 but will see how that will go this year with so much movement in geopolitics

Happened with MySpace, even though the web was kinda new to most people and MySpace wasn't as established as Facebook/X/Instagram are now
so what was it?
Re:Show HN: App to repost your tweets to Bluesky on Monday December 02, 2024 @08:40PM (#42302212)
Agree, plus a lot of tweets will have replies to accounts that exist on Twitter that will be broken and a lot of Twitter-related talk
from my observation, techies, gaming, black twitter, journalists, artists, OF models, and of course left-wing people
Re:Bluesky just crossed 20M users on Tuesday November 19, 2024 @12:03PM (#42185637)
think it's cool to do the milestones, but i agree not every time a million is added, maybe when BS hits 25m next
Re:Bluesky just crossed 20M users on Tuesday November 19, 2024 @11:52AM (#42185512)
I don't think think is entirely true, truth social was just MAGA echo-chamber, Bluesky has a much wider net - i see a lot of academia, tech, artists, environmentalists, a lot of small communities there - some have migrated completely over there
Re:1M people have joined Bluesky in the last day on Friday November 15, 2024 @08:17AM (#42146630)
it's starting to change now - definitely give it another spin in a week or so - a lot of organic non-musk/twitter content there now
Re:Killed by Google on Friday September 01, 2023 @10:01AM (#37350968)
tbf some of these products are simple features like the youtube stories one, if you made a similar list for a large web company (like Meta), that list might just be as big
Hope this gathers more momentum - crazy that Apple/Google charge 30% of the subscription, especially for competing products.

I'm the founder of a fitness app on the app store - a product that Apple offers. So on top of them having the home team advantage on the os/app store and Apple's name recognition, they're killing their competitors' margins.

Re:Automated Mobile UI testing, powered by GPT-4 on Thursday April 13, 2023 @07:57PM (#35563816)
is there anything similar to this out?
I have this same issue - really weird - I have a joint account already with someone on my Starling and can't start a second one, anyone know another alternative I could use for a joint account?

Re:Google suspending Parler from the Google Play store on Friday January 08, 2021 @08:19PM (#25694439)
There are tens (hundrends?) of alternative ways of selling ice-cream other than walmart, there are 2 ways to to get access to Parler for most people, either through the browser or an app - you're cutting off the easiest way for most people to gain access to that content through a phone - do you see the difference between what's happening and your analogy?

This is assuming services like Cloudflare and hosting services won't cut Parler - they've done this before

Re:Google suspending Parler from the Google Play store on Friday January 08, 2021 @08:07PM (#25694137)
it's disgusting and I'm no republican or Trump supporter - 4/5 companies now completely control what people should say online
Re:Google suspending Parler from the Google Play store on Friday January 08, 2021 @08:02PM (#25694011)
Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp etc. are all used to plan violent attacks, murders, burglaries and so on - all communication tools are used to do harmful acts, should we ban them all?

Crazy that people are ok with what's been happening in the last few hours

Re:Scribd acquires SlideShare from LinkedIn on Saturday August 15, 2020 @06:11PM (#24172866)
Scribd are a bunch of scammers, I remember subscribing for their free trial and then cancelling just before the trial ended, they never cancelled and this went on for 5 months - they took that long to cancel it. Check out their reviews here https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.scribd.com - what would be the case course of action to follow up on something like this? Obviously it's not worth lawyering up for.
Re:Tesla’s First-Quarter Deliveries Plummet on Thursday April 04, 2019 @09:17AM (#19571895)
is there any evidence they still have a backlog?? Seems like the only backlog left is countries they just began delivering to or haven't started deliveries there yet..no one knows how big that backlog is
Re:Mandaeism on Tuesday May 22, 2018 @01:51PM (#17127949)
Don't think so. The biggest problem facing us is because we're so sparsed out, it's become a lot harder for our people to marry from each other, and anyone who marries from outside (non-mandaean) is no longer considered Mandaean. A lot of Mandaeans in Europe have to marry from outside so our numbers have been decreasing - I think one solution would be for our religion to start accepting people from outside to become Mandaean (this is hard, our religion is immutable and doesn't accept such change) or the other solution for all of us to be together in one region (before most mandaeans were in either Iraq or Iran)
Re:Mandaeism on Monday May 21, 2018 @07:47PM (#17122773)
I think there are 2 reasons (for me at least) for why Mandaeans don't like to discuss their religion.

1. The lack of need for evangelicalism, unlike most religions, you can't become a Mandaean unless you're born with it, other religions want to spread their message to expand. 2. In Iraq (when I was living there at least) Mandaeans were very much prosecuted for being Mandaeans, a lot of them didn't identify as Mandaean in public for fear of being ostracised or prosecuted. Eg. a lot of my relatives that had restaurants/cafes would have to lie about their religion to be able to sell, Muslims wouldn't buy from us otherwise.

I'm not sure how unified Mandaeans are right now, there are different communities in every country, where I live (UK) there's a small number of Mandaeans (around 1000) where there is almost no community, this is the case in most countries, we're pretty much spread out all over the world where's there's a 1000 people in Norway, 1000 in the States, it's really to create a sense of community when the people are so sparsed out. The internet (Facebook especially where there are pages/groups that have tens of thousands of Mandaeans together) is the only thing that brings us together, for example when sending Eid (similar to Christmas) greetings and so on.

Re:Mandaeism on Monday May 21, 2018 @05:42PM (#17122089)
I'm mandaean as well if anyone is interested in asking anything

this is the case for most articles about 'reformers', always selling a story rather than the truth
