It doesn't need them, it parses SBOMs and manifests from their ecosystems. I think you misunderstood this section of the README.

The project seems like it only requires Python >= 3.9!

Nice idea and really polished look.

Nit: clicking "Create X" to add a new tag seems worse than pressing enter to create one as you have to go off the tag menu and back onto it to create or add another, but it's not necessarily clear that you can press enter to create one.

This is probably intentional -- if you want to fix a typo or make something clearer that you've already captured you likely want to preserve the original timestamp?

If you want an entry timestamped to your current time, you can make a new entry.

Re:Apple needs a new asshole in charge on Wednesday March 19, 2025 @07:52PM (#43418516)
Apple might benefit from one, but would the world at large? The consequences of a big enough tech asshole can be disastrous nowadays.

Drivers like you ruin lives.

Just a small fyi, as viewed on an iPhone in Safari your tables don’t allow horizontal scrolling, cutting off the right column

Yes it's amusing when people aren't aware of the benefits. I, too, have been peeing on anticorporate's compost pile for two or three years.

'some of the popular open source projects are kind of mature', so find popular projects that aren't mature, or 'done'? There are countless.

I wouldn't say you'd only learn specifics of the frameworks. Maybe if you only submitted 2 or 3 PRs, but that's not what parent is suggesting: 'start contributing heavily'.

Re:Emacs Arbitrary Code Execution and How to Avoid It on Wednesday November 27, 2024 @10:11AM (#42256679)
Scary. I saw a tweet the other day from a job seeker who had been sent a repo of seemingly trustworthy code. The sender claimed to be working with a team that was hiring, or something along those lines. Of course, one file deeply nested within the folds of the project contained a block of obfuscated JavaScript designed to grab as much data from the job seeker as possible and transmit it elsewhere. Had the job seeker run the project without reading through it first, they would have been in hot water.

You can imagine some variant of this attack including a carefully designed Emacs Lisp payload, which the unsuspecting and desperate-for-a-job victim might open in Emacs. Surprising that the Emacs maintainers didn't fix it as quickly as you'd hope.

Re:Rust needs a web framework for lazy developers on Sunday October 06, 2024 @06:15PM (#41760795)
TypeScript sure, but Rust? Half your brain switched off? There is a middle ground between unfettered madness and the Rust compiler's strict regime. Maybe try Elm.

Re:Nesizm: NES emulator for Casio Prizm calculators on Saturday January 27, 2024 @10:37AM (#39156404)
The Casio supported pricing scheme for UK schools slashes the Fx-CG50’s price by roughly half, which my sixth form advertised to us as really helpful for visualising anything graphical. Faced with a good deal on something they thought would be useful (and fun!) for students I guess they didn’t dig very hard for caveats.

Our teachers were just as intrigued and excited as we are when they saw games running on the calculator for the first time, and from then on just told students off for getting sidetracked by Super Mario on a case by case basis.

Just Hamlet disemvowelled I think.
Re:Hamlet: A type-safe Haml template engine for Go on Tuesday January 02, 2024 @06:28AM (#38840516)
Choosing hmlt as an identifier and file extension is pretty funny and feasibly a troll. Maybe hlet or hamlt would have been more obviously not html.
