“You run up against a limitation in Ableton Live, or you’ve got a creative idea. What if you could make it happen using code? That’s the Ableton Extension SDK, out in public beta now (JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js). And just like that, we’ve got Live with handy new workflows, opening up scores, connecting to the Web, and playing games.”

Lost my 18 year old son just over a year ago, I am frozen in time, everything I did was for him to shine and be his authentic self, which he 1000% achieved in his short incredible life. I will never get over him, I will never stop talking about him and I will probably never not cry for him. There is a million stages of grief and they can beachhead attack at any moment and then let you breathe and the sucker punch you so hard you ponder “the other side”.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing, I will keep my eyes on this.
Re:BlackHole: macOS Audio Loopback Driver on Monday May 06, 2024 @10:41AM (#40275255)
Something like this should be default in MacOS. I use blackhole daily in my audio production and sound design practices. If you use a modern audio interface you might have a loopback available there.
Re:Surgeons Transplant Pig Kidney into a Patient on Thursday March 21, 2024 @08:19PM (#39786059)
waiting for a kidney transplant while slogging through dialysis is a brutal experience, the mental and post physical struggle is mad real. I was lucky enough to match with a family member eventually. I can see how on some last resort shit why not try this.

This is oddly relevant to my recently discovered disaster in the basement bathroom.
Re:Helm by Matt Tytel on Sunday November 26, 2023 @01:59AM (#38419738)
Helm and Surge XT are great synths (and effects in Surge's case). When my nephew wanted to dabble in audio production, I used them to beef up his free copy of Ableton Live Lite.

Roc Marciano and Alchemist influence is branching out?

I'm looking forward to checking this out

thank you both, nightmare is the only way to describe it, he had so much to give to the world.
this made me smile
thank you
I always encouraged my son to follow his own interests, but exposed him to what I was into. Once he got to high school and started taking "computer science" he really opened up to it and became passionate about it on his own terms. This was amazing to watch unfold and really morphed our relationship into something even more special. Unfortunately the universe decided it was his time to and he passed away a few weeks ago, a week after his 18th birthday and high school graduation. I know he would've gone on to do marvellous things to help our world become a better place, miss ya bud.

linkding in a container has been working great for me
Check out Astral Industries (https://www.astralindustries.co.uk/) and Silent Season (http://www.silentseason.com/) - this is another good place to "dig" for ambient stuff https://daily.bandcamp.com/best-ambient - cheers!

I think tracklib is attempting to find a middle ground. Not sure the younger generation cares about Bob James in a backwards hat though.
I’m on my 7th year of having a transplanted kidney, having a scumbag disease that will eventually destroy my current one… I feel your cynicism. On the other hand this stuff still gives me hope, I dream of the days I don't need to start the day and end the day with meds… One day
Re:New generation artificial heart implanted in patient on Friday July 16, 2021 @04:28PM (#27860854)
I just want something like this for my next kidney transplant, I'm so sick of the meds, yes I'm blessed to be alive and living a really good life, but man the 2nd kidney is starting to give me anxiety. Context: Transplant isn't a cure to my autoimmune disease, it will slowly pick away at the graft and have me needing another. Love reading about this kind of stuff.
Don't follow trends and hype, health and fitness is key, the sooner the better, find someone who makes you want to be better for youself, them and the world. Spend less and save more.

And the great Kardnial Offishal has imprinted the following quote in my head for life.

"Half the bullshit I thought, I'm glad I never said it"

Music is deeply personal to me, it's taken decades to fine tune a perfect genre based symbiotic relationship
I never shuffle yet its always nudging me to shuffle, mobile or desktop.
Stuff like this will just have me on bandcamp exclusively. Spotify has been a terrible experience, but for the sake of my teenage son, we decided to get a family account. Spotify is too obsessed with telling me how to consume music, I don’t need an album shuffled by default, the artist picked the track listing for a reason. The way Spotify cues music is bizarre. Their user interfaces are confusing and clunky. For a platform trying to go all in on podcast it’s near impossible to know when new episodes are released (unless I’m missing something). I don’t need something to spy on my mood and suggest music, I’ve figured that out - Dub techno while working Ambient while reading HipHop when hanging with the homies and Slayer when I’m working in the garage!
My Canadian TD account has been giving me a 502 all morning.
Re:Long-term study reveals harm in regular cannabis use on Thursday January 28, 2021 @10:01AM (#25942752)
That's a very interesting question, perhaps that's their hack. If it never manifests win win.
Re:Long-term study reveals harm in regular cannabis use on Thursday January 28, 2021 @10:00AM (#25942739)
Blue Dream is a wonderful strain. I am (was) a sucker for Haze cultivars. There tends to be Haze in a lot of CBD strains.

I live in Canada and we have legalization rocking already, a friend of mine works at a licensed producer, their sole focus is terpenes, the India vs Sativa and THC % is more marketing vs truth at this point. Wonder if the terps would unlock more reality into your points.

Re:Long-term study reveals harm in regular cannabis use on Thursday January 28, 2021 @09:54AM (#25942615)
Thank you!

That's awesome to hear, have those 15 years been an overall improvement for you?

Less is more, but the trauma and pain some people endure is out of this world.

Re:Long-term study reveals harm in regular cannabis use on Wednesday January 27, 2021 @11:17PM (#25938101)
Was glad to be the opposite of this study, been consuming cannabis since 13-14 pretty much daily, a few breaks here there maybe 6 months total not consuming in that time span. Happily married with a kid and full time job. BUT I will say it became a crutch and a money sink.

Heading into my 40s with the plan to stop daily consumption, currently only have CBD strains in the house, my friend likes to the call it methadone for pot heads. Wish me luck.

The one person from our group of friends is schizophrenic and it was heavy cocaine use that seemed to have opened that pandoras box. He's many many years sober and steady eddy on his medication doing really well.

Another friend is bipolar schizoaffective and his relationship with cannabis is toxic at best. He knows it's the last thing he should be indulging in, but unfortunately in his mind he can't find any other way to fall asleep. Heavy indica strains tend to bring on mania for him.
