SEEKING WORK | Hamburg, Germany | Remote (I'm in CET, but flexible)

Backend engineer working on systems that can prove what they do with data: Confidential computing, remote attestation, reproducible builds.

Very comfortable in Go, some experience in Rust. Familiar with Kubernetes and Postgres.

Most recently I spent 14 months contracting on OpenPCC, an open source variant of Apple's Private Cloud Compute. I'm now building verbond.dev, an open-source runtime that verifiably limits what untrusted code can do with your data.

I'm a good fit if:

- Your product or service says "we never see your data", and customers or auditors are starting to ask you to prove it.

- You've looked at Confidential Computing, but aren't sure where to start.

- You need a Go backend built or reviewed with data-privacy in mind.

Hey HN,I'm Willem, a freelance engineer. Together with the folks at Confident Security I developed this Go package that we open sourced today: https://github.com/confidentsecurity/bhttpIt's a Go implementation of BHTTP (RFC 9292) that allows you to encode/decode regular `http.Request` and `http.Responses` to BHTTP messages. We've implemented the full RFC: - Known-length and indeterminate-length...

Show HN: Twoway, a Go package for HPKE encrypted request-response flows

https://github.com/confidentsecurity/twoway

Hey HN,I'm Willem from Confident Security, we've built CONFSEC, a provably private AI inference engine. Today, we're excited to open-source twoway: https://github.com/confidentsecurity/twowaytwoway is a Go package that makes it easy to implement secure, encrypted request-response flows. It powers CONFSEC's blind prompt handling, ensuring no one, not even us, can see client requests. We built...

Hi I'm Willem Schots, I'm a developer with 12+ years of experience building things for the web. Since 2018 I've been primarily focused on backend development.

My last projects were all in Go and deployed to Kubernetes on AWS and Google Cloud. So that's top-of-mind atm.

Since last year I've been working on my website willem.dev, where I regularly post educational content related to Go and web development.

For bigger projects you can contact me at [email protected], or schedule a meeting directly via my website.

I'm currently available for up to 16h per week.

Looking forward to having a chat :)

I started in May last year and it's been a blast so far. I find that writing about subjects makes me look at them more deeply then "just" working with them.

Putting the first few articles online was nerve-wracking though. I would recommend getting them out of the way as quickly as possible.

Also, finding the right post length can be challenging.

Thanks!

Same here, it's rare to use arrays directly in my experience. Just difficult to explain (or visualize) slices without also discussing arrays.

Hi! This is a small web app I made to explore the relationship between arrays and slices in Go. Probably mostly useful for beginners to Go :)It gets a bit rough around the edges when you provide a custom capacity using index expressions but should work in most other cases.I'm looking into adding some transitions/animations, I think it would be a good way to visualize loops for example, but I...
