Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @06:51AM (#50350839)
I think you are over-indexing on the word alien. What matters here is how scalable the technique is and the fact that it is autonomous. This can be a breakthrough for continual learning.

The end goal for Anthropic is AGI not beating Adobe. Having your models used at scale and receiving feedback and training is valuable towards that goal.

Anthropic can remove all access to their LLMs and start replicating entire software companies. Anyone relying on open weight models is at risk of a security breach from even slightly better models. It is ironic when people think Anthropic is the one without moat while they give all their data away.

What is the moat of any tech company if they are using LLMs to build their products which can also be reverse engineered? Hardware?
If you want to save money, you either buy from a domestic brand or a used Toyota Yaris and squeeze out as many miles from it as you can while having the option to use a local mechanic. Electric cars still make up a small minority of the market.
No, it was roughly 30% earlier this year.
Some are probably being set up for retirement. I wouldn't feel too bad. You should probably be more worried about yourself.

If you weren’t investing you were going to be poor even without AI.
>Andy Burnham said "unexpected events seem to be becoming more and more common".

This appears to be deeper than what you are implying and possibly to do with Russia's hybrid warfare / AI. Unfortunately we only have vague statements to work with from the Prime Minister.

What is a country worth if it isn't made up of people? Sounds like a hollow victory at best if not a total self-capitulation.
>Thackray’s lawyer, Danilo Rajkovic, told the court his client had gone on a stress and frustration- induced tirade after trying to use the Claude platform to help treat an ear infection.

AI is not your friend and neither are tech companies. Repeat that as many times as you need to until it is fully understood.

This is why taking advice from people who 'made it' is not as smart of an idea as people seem to think it is. You are subject to extreme survivorship bias who are normally going to be optimistic. It is feels good entertainment. You are not hearing the countless voices that failed even pre-AI for small and irrational reasons.
Read Thinking, Fast and Slow. Both system 1 and system 2 thinking has been achieved with modern AI.

Your argument that it is not thinking because it is not biological / like a human is like trying to argue a plane doesn't fly because it uses jet fuel unlike a bird.

Ironically you have shown that you probably don't go outside often because this doesn't work out the way you think it does.
So Claude figured out a human life is worth 20 million dollars?
Re:How employment is changing at Anthropic on Sunday October 18, 2026 @08:49AM (#50140653)
Pre-training already makes up a very small cost of the training now. Post-training makes up ~90% of the training cost as modern LLMs are trained using RLVR on synthetic data. People still think that a lot of it is coming from scraping wikipedia like it is 2023.

I'm surprised this is even a question and the fact that you used human and not even mammal to phrase your question. Do you think intuition is a unique human trait?
Re:How employment is changing at Anthropic on Sunday October 18, 2026 @08:33AM (#50140541)
Online / continual learning will solve this problem. Test time training has already proven to be effective.
Re:How employment is changing at Anthropic on Sunday October 18, 2026 @08:27AM (#50140496)
Intuition is just system 1 thinking. Nothing that doesn't already exist.

> Ever increasing agent activity can only move to the point where it's literally impossible for humans to have a collective awareness of how the systems that support our lives actually work

That's the point, they are setting up the economy to be run by agents and they trust that it is possible. Step 1. Teach AI human knowledge (2022-2023). Step 2. Make AI agentic (2025). Step 3. Start autonomous research and create own corpus of knowledge (2026).

Step 3 will keep compounding (as we are witnessing) and most people will be left behind. I'm not against a revolution, I'm all for it.

The most common outcome on Polymarket is "no", meaning most things don't end up happening and things continue on as is. That's what "boring" implies.

Someone even made a "nothing ever happens" trade bot that was shared on here as a meme/experiment that always bets on nothing happening.

The most boring reality is the most probable. No one is doomed.
