I'm not sure if I'm just completely unlucky and/or illiterate, but I coughed up for Wipr and it really has not panned out as effectively as I'd hoped. I recently also tossed in UBOLite and the difference is night-and-day: actually being able to browse without ads.

Who's hiring that's impactful, doesn't suck, and isn't morally bankrupt?

I'm sick of looking at applications for another AI startup, hedge funds, HR platforms, defense contractors, "reinventing healthcare," etc.Are there SWE or SWE-adjacent roles that make you feel like you're doing something good for the world? Like you're helping and not just slaving away to line a billionaire's pockets, mint a new one, or reinforce the enshitification of the world?

Re:Win at Risk by using systems thinking on Saturday June 12, 2021 @02:02PM (#27486271)
I hate hate HATE that behavior. Games are games. Obviously you can be unnecessarily rude or cruel in a way that will sour someone's taste for playing with you or playing the game again. But the point of games is to win. When people refuse to act in their best interest or are "nice" its so frustrating because it makes the entire game pointless.

edit: In a way, it feels like people who wave you on when they have the right of way at a stop sign. It's not nice, just follow the rules and drive predictably. /rant

Yes, and also finer grained control in general even for larger portfolios. Almost like increasing the resolution.

They're pretty similar. I feel like the best comparison is when you write bad React code you can tell, but there isn't really "bad" Vue code in the same way since it's so malleable. That obviously is both good and bad.

To me React is the preferable framework, it's much more opinionated and finicky but also more clear and thoughtful once you start approaching problems the way it requires. Vue is a lot like React, but it's extremely flexible and beginner-friendly. It doesn't really require a novice developer or someone coming from something very different like Rails or Angular to change how they think beyond the component structure itself.

Two-way data binding seems much nicer and easier when you first come to Vue, but has so many hidden pitfalls and annoyances that one-way completely side-steps.

That being said, I _despise_ DSLs and they should be avoided at all costs. They seem like a waste of brainspace and extremely fragile. It's my single biggest knock against Vue.
