I wouldn't bet on and as I understand theory allows a shorter routes. Major caveat is weve never observed them and their existence doesn't guarantee they're traversible.

What's exciting to me is that the existence of such a planet provides fuel for more research into the field.

Arguing that broadband internet saves lives reminds me of the argument that Jesus saves lives and the love of Jesus must be spread around the world.
How could this not end poorly? I cant think of one realistic scenario where there world benefits.
WWII? Fabius did this to Hannibal more than a thousand years ago. The core of his strategy was to dunk on supplies, stall, and have the Carthaginians run out of food.

I imagine Iran, Ukraine, and Russia all know about Fabian strategy.

Meta helps gov w surveillance, so they won't be hit w a $1.4T damage. I imagine a few mil could come out of this tho.

Re:The Wholesale Plagiarism of Obscure Sorrows on Saturday June 20, 2026 @02:58PM (#48611908)
I think the affiliate links are fine and the wholesale plagiarism is unlawful at best and likely criminal.

I agree with you and am acknowledging that knowledge is power and controlled by the powerful.

If anything it'd be free for approved partners. Think large legal firms, language model data collectors, etc
"trust me bro"
Speculation: It probably is just for money. Then the ppl buying, at least some of them, are likely to be engaging in the type of activity described.

I'm just about to launch a job posting data api with postings I aggregate and very lightly normalize (https://kaleh.net/trace)

Anyone have an idea how this might impact me? They're not my postings, I just package em up and ship em. Strive to comply with all laws and TOS and not trying to make trouble.

Re:Russian artist and Putin critic shot dead in Poland on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @02:42PM (#48559999)
I'm just saying I don't yet have enough information to make up my mind. Take your name calling to Reddit.
Re:Russian artist and Putin critic shot dead in Poland on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @09:35AM (#48555100)
headline makes it seem obvious who did it, but he didn't fall out of a window... so I'm going to wait for an investigation before I make up my mind
Re:Iroh 1.0 on Monday June 15, 2026 @01:15PM (#48544287)
So this could be used as a streamlined way for client devices (mobile phones for example) to phone home to servers (google.com for example) with user data and bypass some local network controls? (DNS block lists, for example)

Is there an android SDK available?

looks like I installed a package 3 weeks before it was comprised. I try to limit surface area as much as possible, and this package seemed to be required for a project I'm working on. (turns out it wasn't, but i didn't know that yet)
Re:Driving in America Is Headlight Hell on Saturday June 13, 2026 @08:17AM (#48516560)
Lol, I forgot most ppl have electronic, motorized, smart mirrors. Here I am bringing my manual mirror bias to the table thinking that ppl set their mirrors by hand.
Re:Driving in America Is Headlight Hell on Thursday June 11, 2026 @11:42AM (#48491908)
Blindzone Glare Elimination Method can help address some of this

https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/blindzoneglaremi...

It doesn't help at all with head on traffic, but glare via my side mirrors has been reduced greatly since I implemented this.

I believe were all largely responsible for our own agency. different strokes for different folks I guess
I like where you're going and obv industry will just have you buy a license
its silly to me that soo many people buy into such schemes
Why would you buy my new game if you're spending all your attention on the one I sold you 10 years ago?
I think this is the root of it and what the article describes in the first half. I suspect owning a copy of a game will soon be completely eliminated and replaced w the subscription model. Then when subscription dollars stop flowing, the company naturally winds down the service.
Re:Arithmetic Without Numbers – How LLMs Do Math on Sunday June 07, 2026 @10:46AM (#48435365)
One could use many things to do arithmetic:

- color wheel

- oxidation reactions

- interpretive dance

- migratory patterns of curlew sandpipers

Whether one should is another question

Re:Gov.uk has replaced Stripe with Dutch provider Adyen on Friday June 05, 2026 @02:13PM (#48416186)
Stripe has a useful tool and markets it well. With that said, I'm glad there are other options.
