Re:HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN on Monday November 02, 2026 @03:35AM (#50334383)
No credit given to Skipvids.com ? This looks suspiciously like a ripoff
Re:Tell HN: YouTube is punishing logged-out users on Saturday October 10, 2026 @05:31AM (#50031163)
It's much worse if you have a VPN.

I tested this at Skipvids.com

Re:Show HN: TikTok user finder and video donwloader on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @04:52AM (#49990024)
This is more user friendly imo
Re:PipePipe: NewPipe hard fork implementing SponsorBlock on Saturday September 26, 2026 @10:49PM (#49862876)
I just use skipvids.com rather than installing an invidious fork that constantly breaks
This is why I switched over to skipvids.com
Re:The Mistake That Cost Me a Year on Friday July 31, 2026 @04:50PM (#49128371)
I've actually stumbled upon buckty before. I like the simple UI it presents as a tool that does one function really well.

What was your end goal? Sell ads and make five figures per month?

He spouted some nonsense. His financial ideology is one the UK government seem to be following, which is increasing the decline.
Re:Show HN: I made some transistor animations on Saturday July 25, 2026 @05:27PM (#49051771)
This would have been invaluable when I did my EEE degree many years ago. I use to draw the charge carries instead.
Re:Tell HN: I De-Googled Myself on Sunday July 12, 2026 @02:59PM (#48883565)
I De-Youtubed myself by switching over to skipvids.com

Never looked back

Good idea, although I think it'll soon be replaced by YouTubes own detection system
Are you using Safari?
This is cool. I built something similar.

Do you actually have background playback with locked screen? With the latest iOS video will auto pause when screen goes locked in PiP.

The latest iOS release made this more difficult to do via Safari.

I use skipvids.com audio (aud button) mode. It works most of the time in Safari on iOS. You can also watch in PiP (Picture-in-picture) mode.

I am glad someone is writing about this youtube on Chrome desktop regularly consumes over 1 gig of ram. Even running it on FF with uBlock doesn't seem to help much.

When I use 3rd party yt sites like skipvids.com I rarely go above 300 mb of ram

I wonder how long an honesty box in London or Birmingham would survive.
There was a time you could leave your valuables in most teashops in the UK and they would be safe.

Not no more. We lost our high trust society in most places.

This is sensible. My Mercedes has 3 different methods of using the touch screen, each one is fiddly. It's like the juice isn't worth the squeeze, just give me a nice tactile button like the good old days.
I created skipvids.com as a new type of interface check it out
The law is it's legal to abort up until the birth.

Granted UK clinic's are not regulated to do that (yet).

Most arguments from feminst men seem to reduce the moral difference between abortion and killing a newborn to only a few hours of labour. I find that deeply troubling. I think a lot of men have become cucked and are far too willing to accept feminist framing without questioning where it logically leads.

The title disregards the fact it's now legal for a woman to abort her baby up until the day she gives birth.

That to me is legalised murder.

I'm interested in this. I built a For You feed for skipvids.com it attempts, but it needs refining
Re:YouTube now lets you turn off Shorts on Saturday April 18, 2026 @04:48PM (#47819413)
Yep i use skipvids.com to avoid shorts. I found myself endlessly scrolling like a junky
Re:15% of Reddit Posts are Likely AI-generated in 2025 on Thursday April 16, 2026 @06:32PM (#47800377)
I welcome the AI to reddit, better than listening to the echo chamber, circle jerk discussions that go on there.
Re:Is anyone actually using OpenClaw? on Wednesday April 15, 2026 @05:18PM (#47785368)
I've used I cannot figure out the real benefit of it beyond novelty purposes.

I find Chrome Claude extension more useful for automating tasks online. Before ai I was writing my own macros which basically did the same thing in a more reliable deterministic way.

I use skipvids.com across phone and computer and xbox. I'm too cheap to pay $15.99 per month
Which sites were you viewing the embeds on?
Re:Why doesn't HN have a mobile app? on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @07:14AM (#47688610)
So you like the responsiveness and snappiness of an app?
Try skipvids search it removes all the noise, including shorts and ai slop
Skipvids.com recreates the old youtube subscription page experience pretty well.
