Complaining about a separate event makes you sound a little crazy. Perhaps you could fix that and try again.

Be inspired, as we were, by the terrible and strange creations at the original (NYC) Stupid Hackathon.

And the topics (the problematic ones of which I listed) clearly suggest they are anticipating similar content. If you want to defend both hackathons, please do so, but don't try to win this argument on an irrelevant technicality.
