128-bit addressing is great and all, but it's completely useless (for the near future) unless we have finer-grained pagetables. Give me the ability to do very, very fine-grained pages (let me bring it down to 16 bytes if i want to) and suddenly a lot of new things open up. For a long time, I've been thinking about representing 3d data spatially in memory using virtual memory mapping, but the granularity of existing systems makes it extremely inefficient.
