The biggest issue of todays notebooks is the fan noise. I personally would avoid buying a notebook with a fan, because they all seem to suck. I returned several fan-books untill I happily found the Dell Latitude X1 which is fanless. It's modernised brothers are available from Samsung.

Another thing to look out for might be a DVI connector.
