I agree with you, but I think if you discriminate by referrer you're just playing games, so it's fair to play games in return.

What will happen is that someone clicks on an article through google, they'll post it here and then everybody else runs smack into the paywall.

I still fall for that one every time I have to do a referrer check. In the long run referer will probably become the preferred spelling.
