Thanks for your comprehensive response to a genuinely chilling editorial. The way WaPo used a synonym to dismiss the whole issue doesn't inspire confidence. Surely the closest analogies, though, for this mythical "golden key" are the many cracked DRM technologies. These weren't weakened by government fiat, but were still rendered worse-than-useless quickly.
