I agree. You don't even need the Actiontec router at all with FiOS, at least for internet - I plug my Airport Extreme directly into my ONT and have had zero issues with this setup.

Did you have to get Verizon to switch the ONT to Ethernet instead of coax? My understanding is that only one of those was live at any given time. I've been thinking about replacing my Actiontec with something better (I have the older 802.11g version) and this article has encouraged me to act on that.

I didn't ask them to do anything special, they must have automatically done it when setting up my service. My ONT is inside my apartment, though, so that might make a difference.
