Can't feel too badly for these guys, they've been capitalizing on market inefficiency (the bad kind, anti-competitive actions) for decades. For anyone interested in the diamond industry, this Wired story from 2003 provides some great insight into the cartel: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.09/diamond.html

Ever since I read that article, maybe 10 years ago, I've been wondering "If that's all true then why is it taking so long?"
Wow, and written in 1982. Thanks for that.
The author of that article actually wrote essentially a book on the matter, which is available online for free: http://www.edwardjayepstein.com/diamond/prologue.htm
