I was expecting it too be faster, actually. I get over 300 MB/s on a VPS with HDD at the company I work at. [1]

The dd command is copying from /dev/zero

I wouldn't entirely trust any disk benchmark writing empty files, you might be running into some FS optimisations there.

And 300MB/s on a single spinning disk? No chance!
