While that is the title of theregister's piece, it is not true. The bindings of no other language are being removed, the GNOME project has just decided what answer they should give to the question "What should I write my new app in", and to try to get one language's documentation up to really high standards.

Yea, the title is misleading, as down there in the article they clearly say that JavaScript will just be given priority, and work on other languages will continue.
