A while ago the Claude code source code was leaked. It was very revealing.

From what I remember they had a large regex to match “bad words”

Rather than using their AI to simply scan messages to flag.

Computation though is still an economic problem of applying compute resources to information processing problems. Regexes that work are much more efficient than a massive LLM inference.
