Reg. 2: What is the time window within which they need to secure the said contract once laid-off, failing which they'll be required to leave the country?

It's pretty quick! 30 days. I agree it's bad. Hardly comparable to indentured service.

30 days for someone early in their career to find a new job in the bay after being fired for insubordination from Meta is not a bet most feel absolutely sure they can win, and the consequences are high. They may not be able to come back given the immigration climate right now.
