What do you mean? Math, coding, and some computer use have been the main commercial usecases for LLMs for some years now.

And unfortunately, anyone who uses DeepSeek for serious math applications is extremely foolish, at least right now anyway. Disappointingly, the Chinese models are so far behind on math capability that it is a genuine moat at this point.

Totally different story for coding of course.

The financial value you can extract from math capabilities is minuscule compared to software engineering.

I've been doing PCB layout with Opus 5.5. Maybe this was possible easlier and with Chinese models, but I feel this really pushes the model. These are 10hr jobs, so also requires good stability over time. I suppose this could be tested. As the models get better, I also get better at using them. So I'd say yes, we do more advanced things with the models every year.

The coding was cute but not particularly empowering autocomplete which you had to carefully review until about 1 year ago. It's considerably more capable now, to the extent it is a fundamentally different use case. You can really just ask the AI to fix a ticket and it will and won't mess everything up.
