It may be relevant that Grant "3blue1brown" Sanderson (at https://youtu.be/LKrwhjOI8Nc ) and in ways Stephen Wolfram (at https://youtu.be/YRFfP1YDoVA , seemingly) have tackled the same question in the past few days. With an optimistic stance.
