As a user if you push something too hard I immediately think what the angle is. That is how i feel about passkeys.

Reminds me of when The Powers That Be forced me to connect to websites with HTTPS. Then they stopped supporting Internet Explorer 5. What were they trying to hide?

I did think about that, and the answer was fair enough, they don't want MITM. None of these details about passkeys make any sense. The author hasn't explained why this isn't a simple public-private keypair.
