Depends on where u look at and how you read art. There are many examples of mundane and arguably unoriginal art which also fares very well. We should perhaps disambiguate between art for the sake of it and art for profit.

Programming for the sake of it finds good refuge in the demo scene. And most programming, which is for profit, is okay to be mundane, inefficient etc and we live with such software daily.

Also you can use AI to sample logic which arranges cuts of original physical material in a way which is undoubtedly artistic and cannot be done otherwise. This is all called generative and you reach AI when tuning the randomize (allegorically) knob to the maximum, ok, but is still art.
