This is a very immature, narrow, abhorrent and blinkered take. Next time your wife or mother is sick or a “burden” just take them out back and end the problem. Next time you stub your foot, just amputate it (just highlighting your mindset with an extreme take).

The parent stated a fact that is relevant in this context, and they did not use it as a shorthand for cruelty. Your reaction is unreasonable, besides breaking HN rules.

Sure, keep living in a fairy tale then where everyone helps each other and sings cumbaya, you represent suicidal empathy at its finest (taking your approach at an extreme take as you did mine).

Everyone helping each other isn't kumbaya - it's the path of tremendous effort, grit, sacrifice, pain. It is still better than the alternative which looks rational and perhaps easy, but much harder as you will eventually realize.
