Apple market share (whether by hardware or operating system) was that low for awhile there and by some estimates OSX even dipped down to 2.29%:

Apple did lose the desktop OS war. But that became less important because of the browser ;) and also mobile, which is btw where the largest competitor to Chromium exists. Microsoft winning the OS war meant continuing to sell to corps and expanding into things like Azure and Teams.
