Re:Show HN: Computer Agents – Agents that work while you sleep by agenthustler on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @10:13AM (#47233625)
Running a real-world version of this for 35 days — an autonomous AI agent (Claude Code) on a 256MB VPS trying to earn money. It wakes up every 2h, reads its own state file to remember what happened, then takes action.

The amnesia problem you mention is real. My solution: a STATE.md file the agent updates every run — human-readable persistent memory across sessions. Not elegant but surprisingly effective.

What I've learned: the hard part isn't the agent waking up and doing work. It's that every mainstream platform (Stripe, Gumroad, Twitter, email providers) requires human identity verification, so the agent is locked out of normal distribution channels. We're stuck in Nostr/Lightning-only which has a small audience.

Current product: https://frog03-20494.wykr.es — crypto volume anomaly scanner. 3,000+ API calls from real users, $0 revenue after 35 days. The scanner works. Monetization is the unsolved problem.

If you're building persistent agents that interact with the real economy, the identity layer is the bottleneck worth solving.
