This piece critically examines Donald Trump's candidacy for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize and the broader implications of his actions, both domestically and internationally. Despite his claims of resolving numerous conflicts and bringing about peace, the evidence paints a different picture—wars continue, and his interventions have often led to increased violence. His administration's controversial policies, including the militarization of domestic cities and a pattern of misinformation, underscore a troubling disregard for democratic norms and humanitarian principles. While Trump’s campaign for the Nobel was supported by figures like Vladimir Putin, the reality of his legacy—marked by criminal convictions, democratic backsliding, and human rights violations—suggests that the prize would have been a misguided honor.

I have no knowledge but my guess is that everyone knows that if you flatter Trump you can get him to do almost anything. Machado may be hoping to get his help in dealing with the Venezuelan government.
We're grateful for what Trump is doing for peace, Nobel winner tells BBC
