I used HTMX recently for just this use case and it worked like a dream. I have a server-side app that simply emits HTML, not JS, and HTMX has given it some nice little UX touches like dynamic row CRUD in one or two places where that makes sense. In an ideal world HTMX would be subsumed into the HTML standard, and I wouldn't require clients to run JS for this.
This is an article that isn't even legible unless you're steeped in SPA talk (yes, let us all hydrate our shadow-DOMs), so I'm not surprised the author ran into the difficulties he did. But for my use case, HTMX makes perfect sense.
