This lines up with the experience of the people I know who have worked in factories. There seems to be a disconnect with all these pundits and economists (and many people on the internet in general) talking about basic manufacturing work and the people I have met with actual factory jobs. The pay could've been worse and it wasn't the worst job I've heard of but it also wasn't great (they said they would've preferred a boring office job). There's a reason the pundits talking about the virtues of manufacturing jobs are pundits and don't work in factories.
