Sperm in testicles get purged naturally and/or through masturbation. Any damaged sperm would have been cycled through and removed a long time ago. However eggs are do not get recycled, so if his wife was hit by two atomic bombs, the results probably isn't going to be as rosy.

What about the (stem?) cells that generate the sperm? What if they are damaged?
