Is this (irc bouncer) the sort of thing that should work with Jabber? Keep the parts interchangeable?

Hi, I'm the author of TapChat.

There are very few things about the protocol that are IRC-specific, so this could likely be added in the future. In the meantime, I've had success using Jabber in TapChat via Bitlbee.
