Sorry,but this is about having a temperature differential right? So why not pair it with a solar collector or pump summer heat underground as reserve?

These heat pumps allow you to suck heat out of the air, even when the ambient temperature is below 0F. You could pair with solar PV, but long term thermal storage is not efficient at these scales (unless you’re suggesting ground source heat pumps, which are very expensive due to the drilling needed).
