Show HN: Open-source time zone tracker for macOS

Posted by dena_ on Wednesday September 18, 2024 @05:46AM
from the show-hn dept.

I've built an app in Swift to view local time of my friends in the menubar with their photo and name, not just city names. But it also supports adding abbrs (such as PST, GMT, CEST), cities, and UTC offsets.

All the data is stored locally via GRDB.swift. It uses MapKit to search in cities and find the timezones. The UI is built in Swift UI.

Happy to answer more questions

really happy to see There come to life again after 6 years since my original version which was also open-source: https://github.com/therehq/there-desktop

It was built in Electron which meant it was around 200mb and used a few hundred megabytes of RAM idle (!!)
