I feel like they meant it in a more tongue in cheek manner given right above that they said that kind of tool will not be built into theirs?

You are quoting out of context. OP has "UI to spy on your employees" on a list of "interfaces" that are "out of scope" of OP's project.

Why so quick to condemn?
