As European I don’t understand how Americans got brainwashed to believe Israel was the good guy at any time? I know that Germans have some weird fetish for genocidal states but most of Europeans especially the grassroots have been pro Palestinian for decades. To be precise pro Palestinian meaning anti apartheid, no matter if it’s perpetuated by white people or Jews or Muslims or Asians.

Setting aside the priors of this comment, I don't think it's any great mystery as to why the US has tended to support the Israeli position.

The US has a higher Jewish-identifying population than any other country in the world, and Jewish people are more likely to be pro-Israeli policy, and they're more likely to influence their non-Jewish friends to be so.
