Would such an average factor in whether HVAC is being used, and the current temperature? The trouble is that cold temperatures dramatically affect the range of some EVs, so it's hard to say what a pessimistic range estimate should be. Is the driver about to turn the heat way up? Or drive up a nearby hill?
I feel like if I crank the heat or start driving 80 MPH, it would be surprising if the estimated range didn't budge.
Gasoline vechicals do this all the time with their range calculations. They typically exclude the last gallon from the range calculation so that the car won't stop immediately at 0 range.
