I guess this highlights the ability in a variety of viewsets to step back and apply a more 'meta' approach to a criticism.

Expected, from a certain point of view. Folks endorsing any dogma have traditionally responded to criticism through dogma. "Apostate! Demon!"

While I do not defend astrology, I think there is a problem with assuming that internal consistency is a defect of existential philosophy.
