Well it was long ago that Intel added the extensions I'm thinking of but not long ago that AMD did. AVX-512, which Intel had since 2016 and AMD caught up with supposedly in 2022.
Yes it was Intel's own spec, so of course they're gonna implement it first, but that's exactly what I mean. One is the market leader, and this will be a recurring dance.
