Nayib Bukele locked up all his country's criminals, and by doing so made a massive difference to the quality of life in his country. The truth is, crime causes poverty at least as much as poverty causes crime. There is no tradeoff between "arrest criminals and get them off the streets" and "fix poverty", the latter in fact depends on the former.
