Recruiters or contacts within the company I’m interested in. Not worth playing the resume filtering game with random applications to companies.

Nope, it sometime is. Especially if they advertised on LinkedIn or Stackoverflow or even HN Who’s Hiring. Because these show they are keen.

I’d agree with HN who’s hiring. That’s dealing with direct contacts within the company. It’s not a random HR drone who has no real understanding of the role they are hiring for and need to find somewhat arbitrary criteria to pass on to the interview stage. I’m just saying to avoid the application paths that puts your resume into a pile of 500 others to get sorted by some mystical and opaque process.
